Just found out the colleague below me is making the same money as I do.

I'm pissed so excuse any typos. So I've been working for a media job for a year now, and I was the first employee they hired and I'm actually the longest who has stayed there. I'm pretty good at my job, hitting all my targets, making a lot money. We are small team so my boss and I are pretty close as we have gone through thick and thin together since the start. 2 months ago, we hired two new people. From one very random conversation with one of them, I have found out that the other newbie is getting the same money as I do. Let's say, for example, I'm making 5k a month. My boss told me before he recruited them, they would be getting 4k, I would be getting 5, since I'm the most experienced and gonna be their team leader. The person who told me that…

The person who told me that is getting 4k (as boss told me correctly before).

Now, the newbie is getting the same amount with me is an absolute amateur, not a fast learner, bad attitude and slacker. Basically, i am insulted that a person like that is getting the same pay as me, a person who has worked her ass off over the year.

I have sent a very long voicemail to my boss about this, saying why he changed her pay, also said I'm concerned that he sees the work I do is equal to the work her does? He listened, but hasn't responded yet.

I'm actually heartbroken and very disappointed in him because as I said, we were very close friends and he always says how much he needs me, a 'hardworker, disciplined, trustworthy team member'.

I don't know what to do. I absolutely love my job but I can't see clearly right now as to what to do.

A quick note: he himself told me the newcomers salaries before they joined, I never asked him. This time also, I never asked the newbies about their salaries, the topic randomly came into conversation.
