I was until recently, a bus driver on an SEC campus. Saturday I was notified that I was on suspension over the weekend and to come into the office on Monday (i.e. Today). I arrived at the office for the scheduled 3 pm meeting and am directed to a conference room where a university police officer, a woman in business attire, the safety director, and the general manager are waiting for me. I take a seat not that close to them and ask them what this is about.
ā
The woman proceeds to ask me about my debt. Yes I know I have two outstanding car loans that I stopped paying on because the cars died on me and I didn't have the money to repair them or pay the loan. Yes, I know there are credit cards coming after me because I did not pay them when I was unemployed and homeless. Yes, I filed for bankruptcy 6 and a half years ago just before I became homeless, and plan to file again when the 7 year period is over.
They seemed shocked that all this came quickly out of me and I told them that I had been planning this for the past three years. I filed chapter 7 then and don't make enough to file chapter 13 currently. with the amount of debt that I have. They proceeded to talk about the 'abundance of risk' that I could get involved in with fraternities and the drugs that are known to be moved throughout campus. I asked them what proof did they have and they said none. I asked them if they ran these risk factors on students and athletes at the university or just people who work for them. I was told that I was being fired immediately by the client and would not be welcomed back for making disparaging remarks about the school.
They don't let you get ahead. They do everything they can to hold you down.
