i recently graduated clemson university with my BS in marketing with a 3.4. a pretty good school (B+ on an F to S scale) but nothing super prestigious. i applied for a job at the apartment complex i live at as it was a good opportunity. i like the ppl there, decent pay, wouldnt breath down my neck and the travel to work would be closer than i could throw a ball
its a job working as a marketing assistant. run the social media account, create content for it, create reports for corporate, plan events, etc. i didnt get the job. cool, i can accept that. im struggling with accepting who they put in the position though. you needed a bachelors degree for the position. fairly standard. heres the kicker
they got a girl thats a 5th year senior, is online at a community college and her only transferable/comparable experience is a sales associate for a local print ship. so basically she worked the register and helped customers occasionally
i thought ‘maybe theyre hiring and promoting within.’ nope, shes only worked there for a month. i thiyght ‘maybe they hired her bc shes pretty and would have to do some on campus selling for the complex.’ doubt it, a friend of mind has worked there for 2 years and does modeling on the side
so theres 3 likelihoods. nepotism, they think ive got an iq thats in the single digits or i suck at interviewing. ive been turned down and been okay with it. this one stung though
