Antiwork

Just quit after I’m first shift because they underpaid me.

So I have worked food delivery for over 4 years and the average wage is £9.50 per hour (minimum wage a requirement of the law) plus £1 per drop for fuel and the wear and tear of your vehicle. I got a phonecall from my mate asking if I was busy tonight, I wasn't, so he asked I wanted to help out at the restaurant doing delivery as the boss's son called in sick. Sure why not. So I go in and I clock in 10 minutes early work for 2 hours and end up finishing 20 minutes late. So a total of 2.5 hours. I go to cash in and after 11 deliveries I'm expecting to be paid £30. I was paid £22 and was told they pay £11/hour I said that was not enough and I'm expecting to be paid minimum wage plus a £1 a drop. Which is the industry standard where I live. I was asked by bossman if I can work this coming Saturday night, which will be hectic, when I started I said I'd let him know later as I might have plans it being the world cup and all. So after arguing with them that they're under paying me, I told the manager to tell bossman to go fuck themselves and I'll never work with them again. Thieving bastards.

Note: this is a curry house so average order is about £20 – £30 and some being as large as £80. The smallest delivery I took was £18 so it's not as if they're not making any money and they have 3 kitchen staff and 2 delivery and manager waits tables in the restaurant which is quiet tonight. Also there is another delivery guy tonight so he's still flying around for them and I've already talked to him about how they're underpaying him and how I'll get him work elsewhere at the industry standard as no one deserves that kind of shit pay.
