Just quit my UNPAID Bank of America internship through a program called YearUp, YU staff told me goodluck in getting another job, and “see you working at the mall”

So I just quit my unpaid Bank of America internship as a fraud analyst today. I got a new job as a car sales associate at Audi now. So I joined a program called “Year Up” to help me land a internship, and it did. It got me an internship at Bank of America. Fast forward 6 months I’m on my internship. Or more like a contracting job. I was training for 4 weeks learning everything about being a fraud analyst and became very good at what I do. And Year Up staffs basically told us and said if we perform well, we have a chance in getting converted, which is true, but it’s rare. Anyways, I was like fuck it I’m not wasting my time here anymore, I’m being micromanaged crazy for free, and doing crazy work. I was working 40 hours a week doing fraud alerts and it…

I was working 40 hours a week doing fraud alerts and it was demotivating and draining not getting paid. Even my manager told me I’m very good at what I do, and I honestly respect her but it felt like I was just being used. Year Up targets desperate people who doesn’t have money. I’m in no shape or form desperate, and I’m grateful for the position I’m in today. But they prey on them and exploit them for money, Bank of America pays yearup 30k per student, and we get a stipend of a $150 a week, which is crazy and doesn’t cover my gas commuting 5 days a week.

The quitting part now.. so I called my “mentor” at yearup and told him I’m quitting, and he was being very cool and said, he totally understands where I’m coming from, and you guys are barely getting paid nothing. And he told me to call my internship service manager to tell him I’m quitting. And so I did, and we talked for 20 mins. He was just shitting on me for 20 minutes. I told him I can’t continue to work there because I got bills to pay. And I said I got a car note and insurance, credit card bills etc.. and he started laughing and said “that’s nothing, we have people in the program who has kids, and use the city bus..” and I’m like that’s them, everyone has a different life. He told me this is an opportunity of a lifetime, you won’t get another opportunity like this, you will start making 60k a year WHICH Is not true, I will get 23 an hr if I get hired. But I just said it’s fine, I’ll just get a new job, and what he said in response to that just triggered me, he said “see you in the mall working there.” And I was like “hold on, hold on.” I felt like he was trying to be little the fuckkkk out of me. So I spoke to him after that comment saying, “I’ve made a good amount of money in 2020-2021, I’m not a desperate person needing you guys, I’ve made around 300-400k during that time, and bought my self a investment property.” And he just laughed and said, “this program is for people who need it and you just wasted another kids opportunity who’s less fortunate.” And that’s it..he told me good bye and said good luck in the future.
