“Laid Off” from not enough work, but still seeing job board postings.

So I am a residential electrician with 4.5 years of experience(much more than some guys i currently work with) and I just switched over to a new company back in October of 2022. Switching companies was no easy task as the new company does things much different than my last shop. About a month ago, I received a text from my boss saying “We unfortunately don't have much work for you in the near future. I'll let you know when things change.” I am not the newest employee at the company and certainly not the first to go in a matter of “not enough work”. I am the only employee that constantly isn't on the schedule for weeks at a time. I have been scheduled 5 days in the last calendar month and wondering why. I am the only employee that constantly isn't on the schedule for weeks at a time. I have been scheduled 5 days in the last calendar month and wondering why. As I sit in numerous job boards during the day, I see that my company is still posting job hirings for more positions to be filled. I am not a salaried employee and it is absolutely devastating just waiting for a response to get back to work so I can get some money. What can I do or what should I say? I love my job and I like what I do for work, but is it maybe time to go?

Also side note, in the trades you need a license of some sort through the state that allows you to legally work in that trade. At my old company, we were required to have this because of obvious reasons. No license, No working. My new company though has roughly 20 guys in the field at a time and 4 of them are officially licensed through the state. I was wondering if anybody had any knowledge on what could happen to a business that doesn't have licensed employees to the capacity of about 80%.

I'd love to hear some feedback on what people think. Thank you
