I'm new to this community but didn't know where else I'd get help with this.
I'm looking for something to tell my supervisor when they call me to come in and work with less than 24 hour notice.
A little background info, my current employer is a private sector emergency response company. We provide on site support to industrial clients in the safety, firefighting, hazmat, rescue, and medical disciplines. Sometimes these can be last minute jobs and I'm ok with that. What gets me is when I'm working in the other business line, instructing those same types of clients in those same fields so they can handle issues inside their facilities. Teaching these classes are planned out weeks in advance so much so that we have a recurring client every other Wednesday. It's currently Tuesday morning and I'm getting off work of my fourth consecutive 12-hour night shift to go home. There's nobody listed to teach the class Wednesday and based on my schedule I'm sure they're going to try to get me to do it.
This company has a history of this type of scheduling at the last minute. They've also gone so far as to say we need to be available at all times and if we're not going to be available on our scheduled days off we need to send an email up the chain to let them know.
TLDR, company is probably going to try to schedule me to teach a class with less than 24hr notice, I need some kind of passive aggressive statement to tell them I don't want to work on my days off.
