Just a friendly reminder that the company you're working for does not give a shit about you.
Myself, I was laid off from my job earlier this year. Was put on a PIP. Thought about finding a new job, but my manager (who stole me from my prior company, we were “friends”), said it was only for paperwork reasons, he would take care of me. Mind you, I know his family, his wife, his kids, and his dog.
Feedback during the PIP went along the lines of, “I recognize you've done exactly as we've asked. However, this measurement is subjective, and I don't feel like you did it well enough.” I asked how we could measure subjectivity – I never received a response.
Was offered severance when let go (they knew they were in the wrong). Now, I'm paid $15,000 more, with a title promotion, doing less work, and less stressed.
Don't be loyal to your company. They are not loyal to you.
