Leave policy changes

So I received a mail this evening mentioning that my company has changed it's leave policy Earlier: we just had to apply it on our payroll portal which would be approved by our managers Now: we'll have to mandatorily write a mail to the HR, basically a leave application, and the HR will discuss it with our respective managers and then come back to us with “approved” or “declined” and if it's approved, only then we will have to apply it on our payroll portal They said they are doing this because “apparently“ a lot of employees have taken leave only verbally from my managers without actually applying it officially which means that they've also been paid for those days they've not worked It has just been 3 months in this company and i have a great team and a great manager but this mail has really put me off.…

So I received a mail this evening mentioning that my company has changed it's leave policy

Earlier: we just had to apply it on our payroll portal which would be approved by our managers

Now: we'll have to mandatorily write a mail to the HR, basically a leave application, and the HR will discuss it with our respective managers and then come back to us with “approved” or “declined” and if it's approved, only then we will have to apply it on our payroll portal

They said they are doing this because “apparently“ a lot of employees have taken leave only verbally from my managers without actually applying it officially which means that they've also been paid for those days they've not worked

It has just been 3 months in this company and i have a great team and a great manager but this mail has really put me off. I have been badly, traumatically micromanaged in my last company and it's giving me PTSD now. Is this a red flag?
