Lost payroll check

I do have direct deposit, but supposedly the first two have to be mailed. I’m missing 2 payroll checks that have seemingly got lost in the mail. First paycheck 5/12/23 and the second one dated for 5/19/23. I’ve sent countless emails to HR with no answers and was told to wait until the following Friday and if nothing showed up to contact them back. On 5/19, I notified them that nothing had showed up in regards to the 5/12 payroll check. They said they have to issue a stop payment and I’ll have to sign an affidavit with an hold harmless agreement. I finally got that last Wednesday, I signed and my manager signed. She claim she faxed it two days ago. I’ve still heard nothing. Emails are not being returned, at least not timely. All throughout this I’ve notified them on 5/26 that the 5/19 payroll hasn’t shown up…

She claim she faxed it two days ago. I’ve still heard nothing. Emails are not being returned, at least not timely. All throughout this I’ve notified them on 5/26 that the 5/19 payroll hasn’t shown up either. I asked for another method of delivery, and was told that I’m at the mercy of usps. I’m now waiting on another affidavit to be sent to sign for the missing 5/19 payroll check. I come to work still on time and work hard only for my employer to be nonchalant (it seems) about reissuing my check. I love my job, but I think I’m forced to quit at this point. Any advice? A lawyer told me it was nothing he could do since I have my payslips which shows proof that they’re not at fault. Could the department of labor help in this instance?
