Manager upset at my leaving

I've only worked two jobs so far, with me currently still at my second. My first job was at a smaller, local grocery store. I was there almost two years. I did wayyy more than my pay grade. I ran the register, helped work the truck in Frozen and dairy, scanned reclaim while also helping put things out for the deli manager. Doing this I was only making $9/hour. I did some job searching and decided on a bigger grocery store. $13/hour. I was hired so I went to put in my two weeks of course. The assistant manager of the grocery store was always super nice. She worked with you in what ways she could. She asked where I was going when I said I was leaving and she congratulated me and wished me luck. The store manager didn't have the same reaction.

The assistant Manger informed the store manager of me leaving and also told him where I was going (I'm sure she had no ill intentions). Later that day, as I'm working in frozen my manager comes over and starts ordering. He says, “Your going to ()?” And he starts to laugh. He then go's on to say, “I'm gonna let you know right now, I'm hesitate to rehire people.” As if to say that eventually I was gonna come running back for my job back.

Eventually I walked away. Later a co-worker (who was present when he said these things) told me how that even after I had walked away, he still talked about me. Saying that I would probably only be making about a dollar more and would be getting 1-2 days a week. He told her, “go ahead and follow your little friend.”

This man went on for a good week after this. Talking about me behind my back. One day I wasn't even at work and another co-worker told me she heard him talking about me, claiming that, “She'll learn.” Eventually a third co-worker told me he was talking to her about me. One day as I was walking by he laughed as he said the name of the store for my new job.

I'm sorry but it's just NOT possible for me to live off $9. I have bills that need to he paid. If anything, if your younger staff are trying to move up, you should be wishing them luck, not harassing them.
