I am a senior manager of a team, I was recently sent an email from my boss complaining about many things that aren’t actually an issue in my team. Yes occasionally someone is late but they always work hard and end up doing extra hours so I don’t really mind. It’s give and take. One of his points has made me question if this email needs to go to HR.
He complained that the office is empty at 5:10 (our hours are 9-5), and praised 2 people who he sees work extra hours.
I’d like to hear others people opinion on this, I am pretty disgusted by this. Not only is it very old fashioned but people do actually work over time because he gives too much work… but we have laptops and can do this from home!
Also… is this not asking for modern slavery? Since we do not get paid overtime, is should be voluntary not mandatory…?
