McDonalds can’t afford to be stupid with their workers and pay them minimum wage

I have worked at my mcdonald’s for over a year. The other day I got written up for having a tongue piercing that I have had longer than this job. They have never noticed it, but now they’re telling me to take it out before my next shift as it goes against appearance policy. Yet only one person noticed it in the time I have been working there? I asked to wear a clear, and they said no as that’s completely visible too? They also said it’s a risk of falling into the food yet we can wear one piercing in our lower ears? This is ridiculous. A tongue piercing is less likely to fall into the food than an ear piercing.
