I can't reveal too many details. But I was one of those no-experience hires to come in and be a manager over a team. You know, the ones who have no clue what they're talking about but make twice what you make. Yeah, I was that guy.
And let me tell you… nobody with a conscience can keep that up for very long. I made it 7 months before I cracked and got the hell out. I was absolutely miserable.
Everything about being a middle manager is purposely designed for you to oppress the employees under you to make the guy above you happy. The reason every middle manager is such a dick bag is because it's literally the only way to do the job.
Don't mistake me for defending middle managers because I'm not. All I'm saying is that if you think your manager is an awful person, you're 100% right. Because that's actually how you do the job.
