Hey everyone, I wanted to reach out to amass some opinions about my moms work situation. She is from North Carolina working construction as a project manager. Her performance was very good, netting 365k in profit over 3-4 projects from the last year. (She did a fine job and her coworkers always spoke highly of her.) She was the only female of many male project managers. It was determined that she made considerably less than her male counterparts. Additionally, the boss flew all of the project managers (men) to a tropical retreat, all expenses paid (excluding my mom with no bonus or anything for her). She met with the boss and discussed her reasons for why she should be paid more and said that she truly felt it was because of her gender working in a male dominated field. She was belittled and had her character attacked by her boss who made bullshit claims and stated he didn’t even know how much everyone else made. The numbers certainly didn’t lie. If she truly feels this way, what options does she have via regulatory agencies can she file a complaint to hold her company accountable?
