Momma, rest her soul, was a tough wise woman. raised three kids alone, put two through collage, owned several house free and clear when she died. I was raised to:
– Give them an honest hours work for an hours pay.
– Give them no work without being paid.
– Put the job last in your priorities.
– Go in every day prepared to quit if they even look at you sideways.
I've done that last thing several times when I've been pushed. They ALWAYS back down.
Full Disclosure: I have no kids, a low monthly nut, and there's always tons of work in my field. So I can have this attitude easier than most.
