MSRRA Familiarity?

This may be a bit nuanced for this space but is anyone familiar with the Military Spouses Residency Relief Act? To summarize, I'm a military spouse who claims residency in my partners home of record (Minnesota) despite the fact that I've never actually resided there. I've been with my employer (non-profit) almost 8 years and it has come to my attention that it would be more financially advantageous if I filed state income taxes in Minnesota as opposed to the state we are currently forced to reside in (and where my company is located).

I've requested to be set up for Minnesota withholding and was told “we can't do that” despite the reality that the company has single remote employees in Germany, England, New York, North Carolina, Colorado, and I previously claimed Virginia when my partner was stationed there.

I've let them know that I suspect this may be in direct violation of the federal MSRRA but got nowhere.

Anyone have any experience or knowledge with this? I've been on the fence about pushing the issue but have a strong gut feeling if I file any sort of grievance I will magically be downsized and ultimately, we cannot afford for me to lose my income. I am aggressively searching for new opportunities but fear I'm getting into a deeper hole when next tax season comes around.

Any guidance is appreciated, including perhaps more appropriate spaces to pose this question.
