My (F24) boss (M29), has always been slightly unconventional in a good way (such as taking us staff out for a drink or inviting us to his home for dinner). With time, his lack of traditional professionalism has snowballed. He’s become quite angry and volatile with time, to the point where you need to stay out of his way or get burnt. Recently, I made a mistake at work. It wasn’t anything major and it was a genuine accident, but it did take time to fix and I suspect it did cost the boss some money. I received an irate email from my boss about it. I immediately responded apologising, offering to pay and offered to come in on my day off to fix it. That email went ignored. Now, he’s ignoring me at work. He won’t really speak to me, won’t acknowledge me and won’t really look me in the eye. He makes a point of not speaking to me, but being his usual joking self with others. I know he’s spoken ill of me to other employees, because he’s started doing the same to me. I know this will continue on for several weeks, maybe even a good month, as he’s done this in the past to other staff. This mistake won’t be let go or forgiven, and it will be brought up time and time again. For a few reasons, I can’t leave this role. But I don’t know how to handle his behaviour. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
