I (30+M) am an Assistant Manager in retail. At work towards the end of my shift, start of the heat wave, my entire day has been nonstop heavy lifting, carryouts, gathering carts in the sun, rebuilding shelves, and other hard labor at my retail job. As I am sitting on the floor in front of the drink cooler filling it and reorganizing it, completely blocked in a small space with my U-boat full of drinks at my back, the store manager comes and sits directly next to me at the only opening there is. He starts smelling the air and whispered “I haven't really been close to you today. A couple people said you…” and said something quiet and incoherent. I asked “What? I didn't hear you.” He moves in closer, starts smelling more and said “You know, ripe.” I said “What, ripe? What are you talking about?” He got in as close to me as he could, leaned about 2 inches away from my face, sniffed the air more, and said “I'm not picking up on anything. I don't know. I heard a couple people say that you smelled kinda ripe today. You wearing deodorant right?” I was shocked and said “Uh, yeah….its a hot day and I've done nothing but heavy lifting for the past 8 hours since I walked in the door. Hard work makes you sweat.” He leaned as close as he could, sniffed a couple more times right next to my face (and, again, I am sitting on the floor backed into a corner with nowhere to move), and said “Yeah, I'm not picking up on anything. I was just making sure.” Then he got up and walked off. I have absolutely NEVER been that uncomfortable at work in my entire life. I think I'm going to take a couple days off…
