I am a pca and a contracted worker. My client is my sister. I have worked with this one company for about 4 years. When I started it was literally my only option for work. My pops had just died and my mother is disabled. So this job was a God send. Even though as soon as I signed the necessary paperwork she yelled and berated me for smelling bad. I smelled bad because I had walked through rain, mud and tar water just to show up there on time. My friend drove me most of the way but he couldn't drive the dirt road I live down. After she left the room I was in I just sat there and cried as someone sprayed lysol everywhere. I finished and left. She paid me a small bit up front. She said that perhaps I could by body soap because “Good heavens the smell”. I walked in the rain to the restaurant across the street for the meal I promised my mom and sis.. Tried to give my order through the drive through but because it was pouring buckets the waitress ushered me inside. I apologized for my smell….she had no idea what I was talking about. None of the restaurant patrons responded badly to me. I stood there waiting while it dawned on me that the only smell on me was the rain. I had certainly stood in it enough. I talked to my friend about it when he picked me up to take me home. He said the same. I only smelled like rain. And now after four years of the same abuse and lack of value. I and my sister have finally found a company to move to that is up front about financial issues, how the company works, we haven't even moved officially and they already have our backs. So we told my current boss. She yelled and attempted to emotionally blackmail us. “I hope yall don't get into a bind because we will absolutely not take yall back! I doubt they'll allow you to take our payday loans! I doubt they'll buy you food like I did! I bought your son clothes sister I bought you a washer! “(We never asked for these things). We've heard through the grapevine that several other aides and clients have abandoned the company. Im sorry yall I just needed to vent.
