For reference this story was 2 years ago while I was in college. Also I am on mobile so sorry for formatting.
I worked at a retail store doing online grocery. My coworker let’s call him Marco, because that’s his name, always made feel very uncomfortable. He would always brush up against my lower back, stare at my boobs and butt, and even “accidentally” touched my butt one too many times. I would think about this constantly, maybe I was making it up in my head, maybe it wasn’t a big deal, and maybe I was just in the way. So I decided to count how many times it happened in one day it was 11 times.
So, I decided to go to management who told me basically they didn’t have proof and I needed people to back up my story. The funny thing was I wasn’t the only girl he did this too. He would tell coworkers that he had a thing for “big girls” and ever chubby to big girl in our dept would talk to each other about it. So I did what management asked and got 6 girls to make reports against him from varying departments. They still did nothing
So this time I decided to take matters into my own hands and the next time he did it in a crowd I said very loudly “MARCO PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH ME YOU ARE MAKING ME VERY UNCOMFORTABLE.” He did not like that, and started making rumors up about me.
I reported again, but this time the next day he was promoted to manager of our department. I stopped showing up to work if we were on the same shift. My job stopped taking attendance for COVID, so it really didn’t matter how much I missed and I had enough student loans to live on.
If we ended up on the same shift he would constantly retaliate against me. Making me do the worst jobs, making me the example, and basically the touching got worse. I wish I had a happy end to this story, but I don’t. I ended up quitting because of him. My coworkers told me he would constantly talk about me and body when I wasn’t at work and even after I quit he still talks about me to this day. I now work at a job where I’m valued and my voice is heard I know I wasn’t the only girl and I know he did much worse to a cashier. Management knew but it was on “off time” and “she invited him over what did she expect.” I will never ever work retail again because of it.
