This is more of a rant than anything, but it pisses me off that this stuff is so normalized. My coworkers worked a 24 hour shift at our production warehouse. I’ve worked there for a year and a half and 16+ hour shifts are very common. I was out of town and so I didn’t know this had happened. When they got to hour 18 or so, they were promised bonus checks ($300-$500 on top of OT and everything) if they would continue working so the shows and work would get finished on time. Payday comes, and the extra cash was not included in their paystubs. When I heard about this, it made me furious with how poor management was and some of my coworkers said stuff like “it is what it is. It’s expected at this point.” It made me so angry that this kind of treatment and reaction is so normalized by my coworkers. I want to do something but it feels like there is nothing to be done to show them that this isn’t okay and something needs to be done.
