I work in the trades as a labourer and am non union (but looking to join one now) and last week I did a total of 70 hrs. My employer only payed me through payroll deposit for 44 hrs and is telling me I have no choice but to receive the rest of my pay via grocery and gas gift cards… I know this must be illegal and I’m hoping someone can tell me who I can report him to. I’m not comfortable with this at all and no longer want to work here but I can’t quit or get fired because I wont receive ei if I do and wont be able to survive as I have no savings.
