My husband had to leave his job last Wednesday. He was the manager of a fast food restaurant and making ok money. I make more, but we needed both incomes. I’m at a loss of what to do right now. We each have a car we’re underwater on. I can manage most of the bills on my income, but it will be tough to get everything paid off. We’re basically going from making $4500 a month to $3800 a month. I don’t know how we’ll be able to make it until he gets approved for disability payments. In one week he lost 40% of the vision in his good eye. I want to take time off work to help him get adjusted but I cannot take that time off because I cannot afford to go without pay for several weeks. Thankfully I have gone to working mornings so I work 6am to 2:30 pm, but I have to go to bed so early I can’t do much at night for him.
We’re calling a disability attorney next week and looking to call a bankruptcy attorney in the next few weeks to start the process of filing bankruptcy. That way we can eliminate the debt we have and not have to worry about his car since he cannot drive anymore.
