i won’t state the exact store I work at… but I work at one of the stores that requiere a membership to shop at. I’ve been with the company about a year and a half.
The handbook states that the amount of time between shifts has to be greater than 10 hours or that employee with receive OT pay. I get to work on the day of the first shift and noticed I’m scheduled to work until 11 P.M. and open the following morning at 8:30 A.M. I try to finish my work as early as possible so that I will have a 10 hour break shift (they’ll blame it on me if I don’t). I end up finishing at about 10:36 so I won’t get the proper rest period.
I show up to my shift, work it as usual and head home.
Today, the company releases our pay stubs and our time card for the previous two week. I go and check as I figure I have OT pay so my check should be nicer than usual. But when I opened my time card it shows that my clock out time was 10:08 and had a asterisk next to it. (Asterisk meaning that there had been changes made to the clock out time)
I know for a fact that I clocked out after 10:30 and am sure I can be seen on the cameras. Im trying to collect all the evidence I can and trying to figure out how I can see who changed my time without drawing too much attention to myself but I think I’ll have to go to payroll.
They literally reduced my time so that my time between shifts seems more than 10 hours and also just deleted 30 minutes that I actually did work.
I’m not sure what my next steps should be. Any help would be accepted!
