I work at a very large factory that produces metal car parts and it’s very loud on the floor so we have to use earplugs, ever since I’ve worked there (1 1/2 years) and for many years before they’ve allowed use to use bone conduction headphones that we can buy from the HR office for $80 or purchase them on Amazon or wherever else, well I didn’t want the bullshit ones they were selling, I wanted a nice quality pair so I bought a pair of Shokz Openrun that cost me $140 at Bestbuy because I figured if I’m gonna be using them for 8 hours a day I want some with long battery life and great sound quality. Yesterday my cousin and me get to work and they tell us we have a meeting in the break room so we go in and sit down and listen to the regular bullshit they always talk about. at the end the assistant plant manager steps up and says “our production is the lowest it’s been in a while and we’ve been noticing that people haven’t been cleaning up their stations before leaving and when walking around if they see paper or other random trash on the ground they won’t stop to pick it up and throw it away so starting next week no more using headphones on the floor” we sat there stunned like bro you’re really gonna take away the one thing that makes this job somewhat bearable ie listening to music and podcast and also decrease the moral of your whole workforce to hopefully improve productivity, I’m pretty sure that’s not how that fucking works! I’m sitting here livid with a $140 pair of headphones I won’t be able to use next week because they made it sound like we’re not getting them back smfh
