My job lied to me about letting go remote after a month and a half of leading me believe they’d keep me if I move.

So I work for a non-profit organization in Southern California. Being non-profit, we don’t make all that much, but I’ve been getting by. Unfortunately, it has become unsustainable for me, but I wanted to stay with the organization. I requested going remote n my current position and they said they won’t allow directors to go remote, while acknowledging that they don’t pay us enough to stay there. They counter offered that they would keep me on in a different position that would allow me to go remote and even asked me to write up a new job description for them to consider. Today, HR sets a meeting with me and tells me they will not be offering me any remote positions and that I can stay in my current position or will need to resign if I still plan to move out of state. I’ve been with them for almost 11 years, have bent over backwards to make my projects both successful and move us to accomplishing the corporate goals, and all of my reviews have been next to perfect. But they are willing to toss all that out the window because they are unwilling to change and can’t afford to pay directors the amount needed to live in CA. Anyway, I’m beyond pissed and I guess it’s time to look for a new job. I unfortunately just don’t know what I want to do.
