I work in retail, the current managers are pushy and demanding, and have no empathy or willing to work WITH their employees so everyone is happy, they just like the control they have, and so most of my colleagues are miserable.
Management and supervisors teams made a big deal last year of wanting to boost team morale, and for some reason they decided to introduce employee of the month. They picked an employee for October, and that was it.. That employee didn't recieve a reward or anything, and she was the only employee of the month before they gave up on the idea completely.
It was a pretty shit idea anyway, they need more than that for the staff to be happy, but the fact they couldn't even hold that up for more than one month.
