Need advice on whether or not to take a new job

I have been working at my current job for two years. I just got transferred to a new location. Something happened at my previous location- I became friends with one of my coworkers. I am in a management role and they were one step below. We had a very good relationship, but both of us are particular and can be fickle. There was some things that got misinterpreted and he ended up talking to my manager about it. I had already been talked to before this, my manager did not like how close we were. My friend ended up leaving the company and we talked things out and clarified the misunderstandings and we are fine. But the damage had been done at work and I received a final written warning, with no previous disciplinary action. They did not want me in that location anymore and I was not comfortable working…

They did not want me in that location anymore and I was not comfortable working at that location because of my manager. He created a hostile work environment and his boss believed him and also fostered the same.

I was transferred to a location super close to my house, working for a new manager who I’ve worked with previously. She is fantastic and we get along, and she believes in sticking up for her people. She also doesn’t like the district manager, and sees the horrible work environment the DM creates. My new manager knows about what happened as well.

The DM has been doing little things that make me think she is building a case against me to try and terminate me. My new manager has said she won’t tell her anything, she prefers to keep things in our store and deal with things ourselves. The DM visits the store a couple times a month and I dread those days.

I’ve been looking for a new job since the incident happened and I got a job offer yesterday. It’s $5000 less than what I’m making now and the location is 40 mins away, all highway driving. The person who would be my boss is the old boss of my work friend, and is the reason he quit his old job to start with my current company. He said he didn’t create a ver good work environment, and I could kinda see what he meant based on the interview with him, he seemed arrogant.

I got along with his boss, the DM wanted to meet me at the interview and offered me the job on the spot. She said to let her know if I’m thinking of declining, as she has other opportunities in the area.

The new job also has less vacation time and less flexibility with scheduling. It would be similar work to what I’m doing now so there’s no worry there.

I’m torn…. Do I take the new opportunity and start fresh? Or do I try and make the best of my current situation as my new manager is great and specifically asked for me to be at her store?
