Need some advice! Never given a notice to quit before…

In true anti-work fashion, I’ve never given a 2 weeks before. I typically quit on impulse or stop showing up because I get manic every so often and I make bad life and financial decisions. This job is the longest one I’ve ever had. It’s been a decent job, and my manager/boss has been an incredible person the entire time, literally the best boss I have ever had. Lets me call off without question when I need to and always approves my time off requests. I genuinely feel bad about having to quit but my lease is up soon and I won’t be in this city anymore. I plan for my last day to be either July 8th or July 15th. Will likely be July 8th because I’d like the free week to clean and pack before I head out and I just don’t see the extra $200 or so…

Anyway…

I wanted to soften the blow some so I got my boss a gift, and I intend to give him my notice to quit tomorrow along with the gift.

Yes, I know this is extremely far in advance, but I don’t want to shovel more stress onto this man’s plate than I have to.

Training takes a while, and we’re short staffed as it is because recently we had a coworker have to leave due to medical emergency, leaving me as the only person (aside from the boss) who can competently do one of the most important tasks we have. Seeing as we’re short staffed and everything, I wanted to give him plenty of notice to hire a newcomer and train them on the work stations.

I’m confident I won’t be kicked to the curb early because my boss isn’t the type of guy to do that to someone, and at my workplace you actively have to be trying to get fired to have even a chance at it happening.

ANYWAY! How the fuck should I write my notice?
