Need some perspective on my situation.

Hello all, thanks for checking out my post. I am in need of some perspective on my current work situation. I apologize for any grammar, typos, punctuation or anything else I may miss. *Back Story* I was an event/venue manager until covid -19 wiped that out for me. Hello all, thanks for checking out my post.

I am in need of some perspective on my current work situation. I apologize for any grammar, typos, punctuation or anything else I may miss.

*Back Story*

I was an event/venue manager until covid -19 wiped that out for me. Took some courses in Project management and quickly became a Project Quoter/Estimator for a renovation company, not quite what I wanted but I did it well, my boss liked me and trained me to be very proficient, I was there for almost 2 years. I ended up moving about an hour away for family reasons. I got poached for a similar quoting/sales position but in HVAC. The company is a few years old. I took the job….

Everything that was discussed at the meeting has slowly changed.

My questions before taking the job:

Is this full time?, Hourly or salary?, Will you be training me in the ways of HVAC since my knowledge is limited? How often is the commission paid out?, Benefits?, Work vehicle?, Vacation?, Holidays?, Am I competing with anyone else for sales? Will you let me annoy you about quotes and objections I may be asked for potential sales?

Everything was answered with a yes to streamline this. I would be on 'tools' to improve my knowledge of HVAC for about 3 months so I can learn install and day to day and meet the team.

*NOW*

Everything was ok for about a month a half. There was no clear direction moving into the sales part. The showroom wasnt finished, they would just leave me there with the work phone. My questions weren't being answered and apparently my hours were being cut back. When approached about “Hey what happened to full time hours” I was met with sheer aggression, I never promised that, you can just walk away, that type of BS. Almost like they didnt think this through but dont want to fire me.

OH and I guess I'm on call now too, which wasn't discussed at all. They expect me to do some work when I am not even getting paid? Go do some quotes after cutting my hours and build them on my time? But it works out IF I get the sale.

Rather than give me clear direction sometimes the owner would get frustrated and not respond to my questions regarding a potential sale. This continued on for a while things got kind of ok when the showroom was finished and then they basically turned me into a receptionist.

I now have to clean the entire showroom, mop, clean the toilets, etc. I take some calls and schedule the guys in for work. The owner takes on his own sales calls and leaves me out of it “because I dont know the specifics or Oh its a friend”. I literally just sit here now. I do maybe 3 calls a week for quoting. I have got my commission and has been great but then they cut my hours back..again.

So now Im left with a few choices…

Do I just stick with this? Maybe things will get better and I have to be patient?

Do I do some course work and get a certificate so I can get a better job? I could potentially do homework while at work….

Do I just wait to be fired because of a mistake I will surely make in the future due to no one answering my questions?

Or do I call them out for blatantly lying to me and screwing with my livelihood and will likely get laid off afterword?

If I do get laid off or fired, I could at least make EI until I find another job or do the coursework?

Sorry for dragging on, I wanted to be detailed and vague at the sametime not to give away any personal information. Ask any questions, I will reply when I can…I am currently typing this up at work. It just sucks not being used to my full potential ya know?

Thank you.
