Idk if this is the right place to put it but I have to express my joy. I just want to post a positive buffer btwn negative posts.
I’m a college student in comp sci. I really HATE college and just exasperates my already crippling depression.
That depression sucks all the energy from me completing my assignments and making me barely pass or fail classes.
Despite in being high-level comp sci classes, I feel like I won’t be able to do bubble sort by myself sometimes (which is unappealing for the workforce).
Despite having no skill set I applied for an internships, even unpaid, whatever I can get my hands on that I could possibly monetize in the future.
Had an interview at a software company. I mentioned that I have no skill set whatsoever. “Yeah, we know. You’re job as an intern is to learn.” And was hired on the spot.
Best part is that this is a paid wfh gig WITH benefits (even a 401k) even though I was told I wasn’t getting benefits. They even pay me $5 higher than what I asked for.
Still amazes me to this day and glad I have something that could put on my resume.
TL;DR: Go to a job fair, you might find something.
