Needed to leave an hour early because mum had to be hospitalized, director counted it as a half day.

Just yesterday I had my performance and appraisal review where I was chided for wanting to count the extra 1-2 hours i am made to put in daily as over time. I had to leave an hour early today because my mum needed some urgent medical aid and was being rushed to the hospital. I informed HR, and I was straight up told that it'll count as a half day? Like first, these guys refuse to give me a raise, pay me LESSER than the minimum wage, refuse to count the hours I am made to work extra as overtime, and then pull off this bullshit? I'm just 22, a devops engineer, at the beginning of my career. While I understand I'm bound to face assholes especially in the start, but what the fuck is this bullshit? Edit: typo (may -> pay)
