New job is bordering on illegal management of tips

So I have been DESPERATE for a job for the last few months and finally landed a barista gig (with 3 years of experience). First red flag, the “technical” interview was an hour of unpaid cleaning. I got the job, did my training days, and went in for my first shift. We don't get tipped out on training days (makes sense) but I was told I would earn my tips on my first real work day. Additionally, I was informed that a payment I took didn't go through properly and the cost of the order would be taken out of my paycheck. I essentially lost 3 hours of work because of a system malfunction. I am considering calling my local labor union for advice because all of this seems incredibly shady. I was not informed of any of these policies upon hire and I will be no call no showing the second I find another job.

tl;dr Bosses have sketchy tip out/training policies that victimize employees to line their own pockets with our wages.
