so i just got a job as a kennel tech at a doggy daycare/boarding place. obviously i expected to clean the dogs’ kennels and deal with accidents, things like that. but tell me why i’ve just been a glorified janitor?? this place has no cleaning crew at all so half of my shifts have been spent changing air filters, scrubbing the toilets, cleaning out the insides of fridges, etc. this might be tolerable if the other half wasn’t spent deep mopping and scrubbing the kennels, washing dishes, and taking giant bags of shit to the dumpsters. i barely interact with the dogs and when i have been able to, it’s honestly stressful because they are super out of control. my legs and arms are covered in scratches and bruises after 3 shifts because the dogs get so overexcited after being locked in tiny kennels most of the day. i think it’s also worth mentioning that my friend, who’s worked there for a little over a month, said that 5 people left in that time. i don’t want to quit after a week but i’m really dreading going back. i think i probably had some unrealistic expectations of how the job would be, but it also seems a bit off from the description. should i give it a couple weeks?
