I work at a fast food/coffee shop restaurant and we recently had a little “regime change” of management. The area manager has stayed the same, but our specific store manager has been replaced after the old one found another job (good for him as well, he's gonna be treated better there). This new asshole has been unlikeable since day 1. I won't get into the details but he does not speak to me like a human being, and gets pissy when he has to clean up the messes that HE makes and is overall a giant manchild asshat. He also chills and goofs off in the back with his brother while my coworker and I are left working the front while those dumbasses go shopping or just stand around doing nothing (we are situated in a plaza with other stores). Now, my coworker has informed me of her suspicion that they are shorting us of tips (at least $1 or more). Every time, no matter how full of bills and change the tip jar is, we get $5 each (which is total bs, since it's split only between 4 people and there is WAY more money to split than just $5 for each person). How the manager splits it is also suspicious and unconventional, nothing like how the past managers have split it. I'm currently trying to see how they split the tips to see if there are any discrepancies, and my coworker has reported it to the area manager who has said he will investigate. I think this is purposeful and that these two are using the money for their little shopping sprees. I will make sure that a more trusted coworker splits the tips whenever I'm there, but I'm unsure if there is any legal action I can take at this time since this is only the beginning of the investigation.
