Without getting too deep into it, I’ve been trying to report corporate fraud in my field of work to the media and government. I’ve done it in my own name and even taken to Reddit to share the story.
One of the side benefits of what I’m doing is it benefits the private sector workers in my field. Since I began publishing about the corps in my field, something called the copy rate has quadrupled for some people, succinctly, they can do 1/4 the work for the same money. Antiwork probably sees why I’m sharing the story now. 🙂
Since I started publishing nobody’s sued or threatened. There was one threat early on (2021) and nothing followed. As it turns out, corporations are terrified of people exercising their free speech rights. If you want to read more about this, I did a post called “Breaking the System” in the lost generation subreddit. If that’s a call-out under the rules let me know and I’ll remove.
Just a modicum of public pressure raised wages! So I’m thinking this can be replicated. Though it may be harder in fields larger than mine (est $3 billion dollars court reporting & stenotype services industry).
Could public sector workers use their free speech protections to stand up for private sector workers, thereby increasing the overall income of people, requiring less work? I suppose what I’m doing is a real-life experiment. I have maaaany reasons for what I’m doing, but I’ve left it at what antiwork may be interested in.
Wish me luck. A victory will mean less work for working people in my field, or more money if they choose to work, which may mean earlier retirements, leading to rising wages for newbies. It also may inspire copycats in other industries.
Thanks for your time.
