Basically just looking for advice. I work for a small company (under 20 employees). Over the last several months, I've been looking for other work due to micromanagement and additional work with no pay increase. Since August 2022, I had been requesting a hybrid solution due to raising cost of living and gas prices, not to mention my poor car is not in the best shape. It was unequivocally denied on several occasions so I started looking elsewhere. As the only income for my household, there wasn't an option to leave while looking. When I found a WFH position, I gave my notice and was surprised when I was given a counter offer that met my needs. I was given 1 day to decide and I stayed mostly out of comfort. Since that time, the owner has hired a new person with my exact job title, as well as an outside resource that they have yet to even approach me about why. Throughout, I've been told my job is secure, however I am uniquely aware of at least one outright lie regarding a former employee and I'm not confident in my job security. I'm not sure how to proceed and my family is too close to the emotional turmoil I have been through over this to give unbiased advice.
Any suggestions on how to approach the owner would be greatly appreciated.
