Working an entry level role in entertainment, 40 hours a week job and I’ve been trained on a mandatory part of my role which will probably mean me often finishing after 6pm every day. They want me to work until the task is complete which can be anywhere from 6:30 pm to 10 pm, it really depends on the day, but to offset the hours during the remainder of the week rather than pay me overtime. Seems pretty out of order to me, if I’m working a potentially 11 hour day when contacted for an 8 hour day I should be compensated for it IMO. I have a meeting with my supervisor next week where I want to tell them that I’m not willing to do this and that it’s not company policy (any work after 6pm requires OT, looked it up when they first started talking about the task) but I wondered if anyone had any tips on handling the situation, how to word it to them?
