One missed train + forgetting laptop charger = FIRED

I woke up last Monday feeling extremely nauseated. I had to make the 7am train so that I could be at work by 9am, but I missed it due to my nausea. Next train doesn't come til the afternoon and it's a 2-hour commute. Called, emailed, and texted my boss asking if I should take the later train to work in the office for the later half of the day, or work remotely. We work hybrid so remote work is viable. Boss ghosted me. I decide to work from home since I didn't receive any direction and the next train would've only let me be in the office for less than half of the day. Boss ghosted me. I decide to work from home since I didn't receive any direction and the next train would've only let me be in the office for less than half of the day.

Next day in the office, I brought the wrong laptop charger. Had to ask around, luckily someone else had one.

These two silly mistakes were enough that my boss “lost confidence in my abilities” and fired me. He specifically named these two mistakes as the reason they're letting me go.

One missed train and a laptop charger cost me the best-paying job I've ever had.

The worst part is that I live in a different city than our office, so they let me make the 2-hour commute to the office just to fire me halfway through the day. They didn't even let me stay in the building to call my Uber to the train station. They escorted me out like a criminal.

Just my luck that they waited until midday to fire me, after the afternoon train left. I've been crying at the train station for the past 2 hours waiting for the next train.

If you made it to the end of this post, please send me some encouraging words. I keep blaming myself. My mental health was already in a poor place before this and the only thing keeping me from k-wording myself right now is that if I fuck up and live, I lost my medical insurance and would have even more debt I can't pay.
