Sorry for any formatting mistakes or other issues, this is my first post.
For context, I work at a grocery store for a smallish company in a rural state. I'm also an ethnic minority with a middle eastern name. I've been there for a bit over a year now, and I noticed that most of upper management started treating me differently out of the blue a few months after I was hired, making me follow the rules to a T, but not for others they like.
Anyways, I was sitting at a blood plasma donation center and I decided to look at my phone while waiting to get my vitals checked before getting hooked up to the plasmapheresis machine, when I noticed my manager texted me earlier asking if I can come in. Seeing that I'm already at the center and checked in, I declined.
My manager's shitty attitude really ticked me off, so I canceled my appointment and booked it home to report them to HR because up until this point I was pretty sure most of upper management was discriminating against me and here was the proof I needed (I've been unofficially demoted from supervising w/o any notice or discussion since January, but I didn't really care since I still kept my pay, so on them for overpaying a cashier). I vented to my roommate for a while then I saw my manager's reply saying those texts weren't meant for me and it was all a misunderstanding on their part. I felt relieved, but I'm still pissed that my manager would talk to someone like that, basically bullying people.
Honestly, I don't trust HR to do anything about it, the manager's been working there since the 70's, and I don't want another target on my back, and I don't really want to go through hell searching for a new job right before the start of my last year in college.
