Today I got promoted from Analyst to Manager. They have put my old manager on another team and they told me I will now be managing the team. However, to my surprise, I got the exact same conditions on my contract as I had as an analyst. They said due to my age (too young), they can’t give me a raise, since I would be earning much more than other people in my age range (which seems like bs to me) Should I accept this promotion, only for the title, or should I still fight for a raise? Tbh I only care about getting a raise. The new title is just a nice-to-have, that in my opinion is required to get a substantial raise. A few days ago I got a message from a manager asking if I wanted to interview for a job he had available. I say sure and apply for the job and he sends me a teams invite. The interview was suppose to be today but yesterday I get a template email saying I am no longer being considered. I message him and ask him what’s up with this email. He proceeds to cancel the invite then sends me a generate email saying even less. It just felt disrespectful. He reach out to me, asked me to apply, set up my interview then I get rejected without even heads up. Every time I've worked somewhere that HAS NOT forced social events, everyone has generally been normal. I liked almost everyone I worked with. If someone initiated a social event, my food was being paid for, I would go if I didnt have anything else going on. However, every time I've worked somewhere that has forced social events and tried to make my workplace a fraternity has had the weirdest, most socially fucking inept employees. I hated everyone I worked with so much I felt like I was constantly furious, and yelled at people publicly on the regular, which isnt in my nature at all tbh. As a Swede, hearing about people not being allowed to join a union is unfathomable. Is it prohibited, or what's the deal? And people who were/are members of a union, what's the best thing that came out of it for you?

After a round of lay-offs, the agency president spent 2 hours yelling at the whole accounts team, swearing, and overall delivering a very unprofessional speech about how our clients are “arranged marriages” where we should create codependence. He actually asked aloud if anyone is really happy with their spouses, and then proceeded to yell at the 4 people who raised their hands and call them “either lucky or liars”. Disgusting.

I get paid every two weeks and generally during a pay week I get an email saying “your pay stub can be viewed at this link.” Well, Thursday night I was going to bed and realized I never got the email. I texted my boss asking if he ran payroll. I got “I did not. Sorry.” I went to bed with a pain in my stomach but hoped it would work out. No deposit the next morning. I don’t see my boss until almost 2pm and he talks about his week. I am the one to bring up the elephant in the room. “Any idea when you think I might get paid?” His response is “I don’t know.” At this point he asks “this really puts you in a bind, doesn’t it?” Yes. “[Your spouse] really hates me, don’t they?” You’re not their favorite right now. I’m a firefighter and I feel my views are pretty centrist. But I’m the other hand everyone at my department is very right leaning. I’m fine with it until it gets to the point where my chief or lieutenant are ranting about 5-10 times a day about either how Trump is going to save us all or how pride month is some type of demon ritual. The higher ranking officers like my chief just constantly talk about their sustain with the country and other people, but the lower brass like my lieutenant get talk very violently about gay people and it makes me super uncomfortable. I think it’s because the chief talks about religion and his politics so they think it’s ok. Sorry for the rant it just sucks having to leave the room every time.

Just a rant, but I absolutely hate when companies ask you to volunteer outside of working hours, especially in non profit. Why would I want to be under paid in my 9-5 then turn around and work for free?
