Found out why Hr is a joke
Me: Gonna be 5 minutes late since train blocking one road, construction blocking another, gonna have to take interstate and double back. Hr: Since you didn't notify us a an hour before your shift its a write up. Me: I didn't know I was going to be late an hour before my shift. Hr: Next time you need to call in an hour before your shift or you face discipline up to termination.
So let me preface this a bit, I work for a telecoms company, the last 2 and a half weeks, we’ve been getting absolutely hammered on support, at least 2 outages a week which means we can’t actually get anything fixed because we’re too busy having to answer calls for people who can’t listen to a call message telling them of a nationwide outage, last week we had the biggest outage in the company’s history, everything went down, it was 9 hours straight of handling people and repeating ourselves. Everyone else in my team has had a day off at some point to help with the stress except me. For the last few days the stress has been getting to me, being one of the more senior members who can work all of the brands we have, my workload is always exponentially higher than most people. But I’ve not been…

I have A 19 and 17-yr old, daughters, and thy both have $14 an hour jobs (walmart and fast food). I definitely do not want to suggest college – even community college-if it is going to be a financial burden later on, but I also don’t think they want to keep working these jobs forever. In addition community college jobs almost all involve physical labor to some degree. I know there are free community college programs but they do require you to choose certain careers that are under- filled currently. I have a college degree from the 90’s paid off, and I work as a waitress for about $25 an hour, but it’s not ideal as these jobs are hard on your health and are unpleasant customer service. I’m also concerned about the aspect of college leading to even a well paying job, and potentially figuring out that that work…
Why is it always like this?
remember the rental truck that blew up okc fed building, dont work for them. brief overview of what you will face if you work for this corporation that doesnt care about customers or employees. tonight I'm oncall, because of poor buisness decisions this multinational is always short of spare equipment. yesterday my location briefly had one off the rarest of those units. it left before 2nd shift started. it showed on no list for availability but somehow the system tagged it. I have received 6 calls after 10pm for this unit, most recently at 3am. ryder in their moronic lack of vision failed to add the ability to take a unit off the roadside list of available units. my resume goes out everytime I get a call and daily from now on. time to roll the tool box and remind myself that I was looking for a job when I…
Hi I am 21 years old student, I moved to another country recently for my studies. I thought of applying for a summer job but it hasn’t been working well lately. Would it be dumb to lie in my resume about experiences in my home country? like writing about clerical work that I never had, etc? I will make sure that the lie is quite believable and realistic. I know it is unethical to do so, I am really desperate for a job right now. what do you think?
So I’ve worked for this law firm for 2 years. My ‘boss’ was a money-hungry woman who did not think about the interests of her clients at all. She also treated me like crapp and het behavior made multiple people quit, which resulted in me doing extra work. One day she asked me if I could do an X amount of extra work, since she couldn’t find anyone else to do it. I told her no, because I could barely do the things I was assigned to as it was. She then said well why don’t you stay longer like everyone else (mind you she pays me under the norm of people with my diploma, and she is also a small law firm). Also the other people working there barely work overtime. She was referring to the young secretary people working overtime, because they have nothing else to do. I…
