Are you for it or against it being an unwritten “law”? Or does it depend on the situation? If you have a toxic work environment do you feel if it’s best for your mental health that it’s okay to give one week and not two? Especially if knowledge transfer can be done in that time frame? Curious what other people’s thoughts are on the subject. Also — if a new job needed you to start in under two weeks or else you lose the position— would you pass on the opportunity out of needing to give two weeks to your current employer?
Your Democracy is a Sham and Here’s Why
Half the stories here seem to fit
At my retail store, our crew calls for eight people. On average. This day was not an “average” day. our freight was about 50% more than usual. We have two new supervisors. One tries too hard to be nice, the other tries to hard to be mean. We had…three people. Not eight. Not eight on an average day. Three on a terrible day. Instead of working to keep us cool on the hot day, instead of keeping everything calm and relaxed, it was lukewarm water and complaints people were going too slow. And trying to tell me how to do my job that I've been doing longer than anyone. But it's ok, because we're ordering pizza for lunch! Lunch that we were late getting too These aren't even higher ups man. These are hourly people just like us who just. Don't. Get. It. Starting em early I guess.

Wallstreet continues to make more money as the average person struggles to get by. The government isn’t regulating the financial sector to mitigate the risk to the people and the economy. WHEN they fail again, there will be no repercussions. Large banks, investment firms, and Hedge-funds are leveraging their investments to extreme levels to maximize short term profits, and pocket their massive bonuses. The more you understand it, the more you realize the corruption in the system is so elaborate, and out of our control. We have blatant conflicts of interest, with credit ratings being given arbitrarily, allowing major banks to essentially gamble people’s life savings, with no accountability when their “AAA” rated investments fail. We have academic journalists being payed to publish papers with clear conflicts of interest and NOT being forced to disclose they were paid for it. We have former execs at large banks, lobbyists, and financial…
I just found out that my dad, who’s worked for his company for over 40 years, hasn’t received a raise in nearly 10. It’s a successful company that has more than one branch and he manages one of the departments. In addition to hiring, terminating, employee disciplinary, etc, he also handles the clientele and their orders within that department. So while managing the employees, he’s on the phone all day long with their customers and coordinating their orders. Not only does he work well past five o’clock every day, he also works a 1-2 Saturdays per month. He told me since the last time he received a raise, he’s gotten his employees frequent raises and they’re now making 20% more. He’s thinking of asking for a 25-30% raise. What do y’all think is sufficient?? I think in addition to a fat raise, a profit-sharing plan needs to be on the…
