So to start this off, the year before last I applied for food stamps and I got a whopping 16 dollars. What the hell is that? That's a snack, that's not even enough for a whole meal. Then last year a lot happened. I got married and had my first child. My wife then had to stop working for a while to recover and watch over our newborn. Luckily, I'm guessing because of the baby, our food stamps jumped up to 250 dollars. Yay it's actually usable! Then my job got with the modern times and gave wage increases to everyone, which gave me about a 2 dollar an hour raise. All sounds pretty great, right? Wrong. So apparently me getting that raise is what screwed everything up. But I mean, its 2 dollars an hour so how bad could it really be? Apparently this measly wage increase, which still…

Forced vacation to save company money
Last year the company I work for made record profits, by a lot. Think at least 25% over the previous year. Last Thursday, our entire department (in the office, some salary some hourly) was quite abruptly called into an all-hands meeting. This time that was enough, because in the US we get next Monday off anyway (Memorial Day), so many people were already taking this week off. But we were also told that this will most likely happen again this year, and if someone is without any vacation time left, they will…

Doing my part as a programmer.
Hey all, not much of a poster here. I tend to mostly lurk. In the past few weeks I have been learning Python to teach myself how to code, on top of that I'm teaching myself CS before I go to college so I can speed through it and (hopefully) land a high paying job. I saw a post a couple weeks ago, it was a note left by a manager about forbidding the discussion of wages along with the manager's email. Someone suggested signing the email up for spam mail, but then I thought….why don't I just make a program that generates emails to spam an email address? So that's what I'm doing now, and I'll make it available as soon as it's done. That way if you wanna make your manager's life a living hell you can! Any tips are appreciated, I'm only about a month into my…
