So recently I was approached by a company (Prometheus Group) to interview. Before any of that I told them I would reach out to employees to know what the company was all about as it had very poor Glassdoor reviews. No surprise to anyone that’s what everyone I reached out to said. Now today, I was approached by someone with another company and I told them the same thing, let me reach out to former employees. Of course they can’t tell me no so I went to look at their current employees and I can’t message any of them! I feel like that is such bullshit because it’ll just cause me to waste even more of my time interviewing for potentially shit companies when I could just weed out the competition but speaking to people. I should have to buy premium for some thing so simple.
Wanna skip work tn for something? A mental day? A hookup? Sitting in bed watching anime? Don't feel bad about it. Tell them you have a personal emergency/illness and turn your notifications off. This is the quality of laborers they are paying for. Do not be reliable. Reliability costs $25/hr. Don't do a good job, do what is required. You are not chattel.
Lets talk about falling dominos…
Someone has this bumper sticker.
Mobile formatting sorry yada yada yada. I work for a multi-billion dollar corporation in Indiana that produces engines. Last night one of the machine caught fire resulting in a lot of the factory filling with smoke from burning grease, oil, and metal shavings. Once I saw the smoke and saw the flames billowing out of the machine I pulled the fire alarm and so did a few others; nothing. No alarm went off, nobody in the factory full of people was notified until they could see smoke. I breathed this shit in and am currently in the ER for labored breathing. I waived my rights to sue in my union contract. I’m pissed and don’t know what to do. What if the fire was worse? What if someone didn’t make it out? I owe them over 10k in tuition and can’t just quit. I have to wait till tonight to…
Yes, I get the head office is 2 hours ahead of some of the other offices, but does the 10 minute announcement meeting scheduled less than 24 hours in advance NEED to be at 8:00 a.m. head office time, which is 6:00 a.m. my time? Do I NEED to wake up an hour early to listen to what could likely be announced in an email and likely doesn't affect me at all? Now, I am a long term salaried industry employee. I'm not a complete idiot and I am fine with occasionally going above and beyond. Stay late? Sure. Wake up a little early for an important meeting with India? Ok. But there is precisely ZERO reason they MUST hold trainings, announcements, and such at the star of their business day. 1-2 hours later would make a world of difference. I've given them this feedback before, and have stopped because…
So they aren't perfect. But many things they have/do here, would've had my managers rolling on the floor laughing if I suggested this. Both are autoshops. New autoshop supplied me with my own tool cart. They said if I acquire a list of tools they give me, the cart is mine to keep even I leave the next week. If I suggested this at my other job, I can't even imagine the reaction. I'm being paid $2 more right off the bat. My previous pay isn't even in their pay range at all for employees. I'm still not paid much, but I'm extremely new. They do paid holidays. I had to clarify with the HR lady and asked if we get double pay for working and she says “No, we're closed Memorial day but you're still paid for your normal hours” this definitely would've had them rolling on the floor.…
