I am a full-time college student, with a part time position as a daycare assistant teacher. I love my babies, but the administration really bursts my bubble. On my non-seasonal breaks for school, I offer to work more hours if they need me and they always do. We are barely staying afloat, short staffing and teachers calling out from work. I try to cover whenever I can. But it’s hard because of my schedule and I struggle with transportation. With gas being so high and not having a drivers license, it is hard. Even if I didn’t have somebody taking me to and from work, I wouldn’t come in for a 3 hour shift at 10.75 an hour. I don’t think very many would. That is barely a half tank of gas. I live 30 minutes away (I live out in the middle of nowhere). Despite how far away I…
I was fired today and my employer said to keep this “confidential” and to not tell my coworkers that I was fired… which sounds pretty illegal. I've had some coworkers come to me and say they're sorry to hear that I'm not working there anymore, and I've decided to be kinda covert and say “it wasn't my choice” instead of just lying or not saying anything. I just want to tell people so bad, they should know! But since they're giving me the last two weeks of pay (even though I won't be in the building) I'm kind of scared to say anything until then (since after that they have 0 control over me lol). Thoughts?? Word spreads fast there.
I am a first year part time teacher at a fancy private school. I am moving to another city and I am required to serve a 3 month notice period. I informed my workplace about my move 3 months in advance and agreed to work till the end of the school year. There is literally only 1week left, our students are already on their summer break and we are now just going into school for grading and report cards. Last week I asked my workplace if I could do my grading from home for the next few days as I had to supervise the packing and I have a 1 hr long commute to work everyday which just cut into the time I could spend grading. HR approved it and was very chill about it. Last Saturday they had a school festival which I didn’t attend because a) they already…
I want to just call in and say I can’t make it. I want to go back to school and get a small day job that would be easier to work with a schedule for classes. I want to get my future going so it’ll be here. I don’t want to go back to work. I just got over this urge to quit- I finally got past it. I finally got to where I wanted to go to work. Why cant this feeling go away so I can just be content with where I am.

Hypertension (HTN or HT), also known as high blood pressure (HBP), is a long-term medical condition in which the blood pressure in the arteries is persistently elevated.[11] High blood pressure usually does not cause symptoms.[1] Long-term high blood pressure, however, is a major risk factor for stroke, coronary artery disease, heart failure, atrial fibrillation, peripheral arterial disease, vision loss, chronic kidney disease, and dementia.[2][3][4][12] Hypertension is a major cause of premature death worldwide.[13] I'm 29 and I was diagnosed with hypertension about a month ago. I only started getting high blood pressure from my doctor's visits about a year ago, a year into taking over the responsibilities of my manager who left the company. I was prescribed a stress test at a cardiologist who cost $500 for his appointment (while being covered by my company's insurance). My job is a lot like many of yours these days. Chronically understaffed, constantly…
https://www.law360.com/employment-authority/articles/1486472/quicken-axed-banker-over-discrimination-reports-suit-says Mortgage Firm Quicken Loans fired one of its high-level bankers and labelled her a security threat for objecting to suspected racial and gender discrimination within the company and then falsely claimed that she quit her job in order to cover its tracks, according to a Friday suit. Keely Crimando, former to banker at Quicken Loans, which is now known as Rocket Mortgage LLC, told a Michigan federal judge that she was terminated for unspecified misconduct after she expressed concern about suspected harassment and discrimination to company executives and management, which she said fell under protected activity. She further said the company has maintained that she voluntarily quit, but she called this a “dishonest pretext for unlawfully separating her from employment.” “Plaintiff was viciously maligned, identified as a security threat based on nothing, and swiftly terminated because of, and on the basis of, her protected activity, and dependent conceited the…
