“Congrats on your 1 year anniversary! Just to be straight, i know you may be expecting raise or stock options or something, but its not happening. I dont want you to feel this reflects on your performance at all, you've done an amazing job, and the company is very pleased. Times are just tough for tech companies right now.”. “But I took more than 1/3 pay cut to take this job, a step backwards to take a step forward and inflation is crazy”. “Sorry I understand but there is nothing i can do”. Giving absolutely NOTHING and yet saying did an amazing job is really wearing on my motivation even though salary is nor normally my motivation. Even won some company-wide awards and coworkers were all “so cool!! how much was the bonus for that?!?”. Me: nothing but an “atta boy”.

So this place I used to work for was just the worst. They were an app and idea development company that took advantage of anyone with money and a dream. Several clients invested their life savings or retirement funds with them, as they had been convinced that their honestly terrible ideas were guaranteed successes, and that the company had inside connections with several big box retailers and a team of pro developers. They absolutely did not. They also claimed they were making great progress on developing their apps when they hadn't even been started on yet. We're talking about apps that clients had payed them 20k or more to make in some cases. Seriously why the fuck is that even legal? And by myself? Seriously? I have no idea how to fight this kinda shit so I just “pulled myself up by my bootstraps and sucked it up buttercup”, but for real isnt anything over 8 hours overtime? And don't they need to ask you if you'd like to work overtime instead of just scheduling you for it?

In the beginning of last year i started working at a groceries’ delivery compagny and it was my first time working full time, i only had student jobs on the weekend before. Overall everything was going fine, there were sometimes some issues with the managers but i’ve always been able to tell them about it and find a solution. But then, one day, the company decided to open another place, to cover another part of the city, and it happened to be near where i live, so when they asked if i wanted to work there, i said yes.
