pizza hut is so toxic
I work at a pizza hut in Ontario Canada. My first 5 hour shift was unpaid which Is illegal, there are no breaks here I've worked 10 hour shifts and you can't leave for 15-30 mins I was told my break is when I'm not doing anything but I'm always doing something because it's super busy. I've gone 7 hours no food because the orders keep coming in and I'm not allowed to stop. Yesterday was crazy busy as usual and I made pizzas for 4 hours straight finally had a few mins I sat down to eat was sitting for 3 mins when the manager saw me on camera and called the shift manager and told him to tell me not to eat because it's busy time…it's fucking pizza hut it's ALWAYS busy. This triggered me enough to rant about it now and the most annoying was my shift…
I always ask the person I’m tipping if they get the money and they almost always say yes. But this one business, all three times I went, different people said no. I sent an email to the Oregon Bureau of Labor Industry and never heard anything back. Is there anything I can do on the workers behalf to expose the employer for stealing his workers tips?
Right now there's analysts predicting that gas nationwide could hit $6.20 by august. Just to put that into perspective that would mean that if your making the federal min wage of 7.25/hr you have to work close to 1 hour just to put 1 gallon of fuel into your car. And if you make 15/hr 1 hour of work will only get you 2.5 gallons of gas. This is complete insanity, soon people won't even be able to afford to work anymore. In america our cities were intentionally built to only be accessible via car, so people can't just bike or take public transit too work. Not too also mention diesel prices are going to cause the cost of delivering goods to skyrocket like crazy because more owner operator truck drivers are going to either quit or try and charge their clients more money for the increased gas prices. Rationality and compassion are hard to find. We’ve been told by large companies that tech helps us live more effectively. I disagree.
