I'm an IGCSE student and I have 0 fucking interest in studying shit like science and math even tho I'm forced to learn that garbage. Obviously, you need to learn basic things and critical thinking there's no debate but most of the hardcore stuff we're learning is useless for what I want to do (writing). My mom even thinks so, but her opinion is that I need to conform to this trash system anyway in order to get into an 80,000 college/university and get a legendary degree that'll make me bank and my dick grow 8 inches. (and also get into legendary debt we need to work 7 jobs simultaneously in order to pay it off). But why? Why need to learn all this stuff to get into college/uni? Why do I need to waste my time doing shit that doesn't help me in the future for something that won't…
So obviously this is bad for everyone involved including myself because there is a potential someone else will get paid even more than me in the upcoming time at the company but I do genuinely enjoy working here even though I have just started the staff is good and the safety involved with how we deal with unsavory clients is perfect because it gives them a tight rope so they stay in good behavior. I also hate the fact that my coworkers are making less than what I make despite being with the company longer. Is there a way I should go about this to help them or am I being a fool since they already know I tried to discuss wage and am the only one making more than the rest of the techs in my position. My mom and girlfriend think I’m being stupid for looking out for…
There was a thread earlier discussing whether to ban people that say dumb shit like “get a better job.” Would it not be better to make bots that reply to them with well formulated arguments? Maybe show a stat of how many times the bot has had to deal with these dumb asses. It's too much work going after all these trolls, and it's super frustrating too. Anyone here know how to help? These people really don't have that much to say.
Why pay for college?
I recently retired from the insurance industry (yippee!). It used to be, employers checked if an employee claimed to have a college degree. Not so much anymore. When I left, roughly 30% of the team had lied about having degrees. These folks freely admitted this to non management within “the group”. As an aside, there really weren’t many apparent differences in performance between these folks and others who actually had degrees, except perhaps writing skills.
